seed, we offer turf seeds, seed corn and soybeans. We offer our
customers several different services, including grain marketing, cash
and carry chemicals, and distribution of ice melt and lawn fertilizer.
We offer expertise in athletic field renovation and maintenance. From
grading to seeding to fertilizing, Big Country Seeds partners with some
of the most successful high school athletic programs in Eastern Iowa.

History
SEED (v): to place; especially in the hope to increase or profit
The seed business is unlike many industries. Few businesses provide
annual optimism that perpetuates each spring. By definition, to seed
provides hope to increase or profit. Dan Steines has cultivated that
optimism by sharing with his clients for decades.

Dan Steines has been part of the agricultural industry for nearly 25
years. Graduating from Kirkwood Community College with an associate
degree in Agriculture in 1995, Dan began with Gringer Feed & Grain.
He learned from industry giant Don Gringer the importance of providing
superior customer service with quality products at a fair price. Those
principles were instrumental when, in 2002, Dan became a founding
partner with Amana Seed. It was during this period that Dan established
himself as an expert seedsman. In August of 2007, Big Country Seeds was
founded when Amana Seed was dissolved. Working from the tailgate of his
truck and a 1,000 square foot garage, Dan ventured off to share his
knowledge and optimism with a handful of clients. Guided by the core
principles instilled in him, Dan and Big Country Seeds has grown into
one of the area's most respected and successful distributors of seed,
chemicals, fertilizer and ice melt.
Today, Big Country Seeds, operating from a 100,000 square foot facility and a team of 14 dedicated employees, offers the same superior customer service with quality products at a fair price.
